Books ‘n’ Bloggers

When I signed up for the Books ‘n’ Bloggers Swap through Chaotic Goddess Swaps, I was excited, but also rather unsure of what was going to happen. I had so much fun picking books to send off to Beth, who blogs over at Printcess! What I didn’t realize was how awesome the package I’d get would be. Unwrapping all the packages yesterday made it feel like my birthday (oh wait, it was my birthday!!)! I do wish I would have put a few more things in the package I sent once I unwrapped all the goodies.

The goal of the swap was to send off at least three books to your swap partner.

  1. a book you love
  2. a book you are interested in but haven’t read
  3. a book from your partner’s wishlist
This lucky duck got those three and an extra “just for fun”!  I don’t even know where to start with reading them all.
I’ll list my books in the order I opened them. The first was a book Beth hasn’t read yet but is interested in. She sent over The Martian by Andy Weir, which wasn’t on my wishlist but should have been, since I’ve been eyeballing it too. This is the story that is about to be released as a movie starring Matt Damon. It will likely be my first read simply because of spoilers come movie time.
The second book I unwrapped is Grave Goods by Ariana Franklin. The note from Beth said she highly recommends this author. I’ve never heard of this book or the author, but reading through the description, it sounds like it’ll be a really great read. Set in 1176 with a mystery linking back to King Arthur and a strong female investigator leading the search for answers, this sounds like my kind of mystery.
Ernest Cline’s Armada was the next one unpacked of the four.  This is the one marked “just for fun”.  From what I’ve read so far, it’s real life meets sci-fi, and when one of the reviews calls it Enchanting…Willy Wonka meets the Matrix.” it has to at least be entertaining.

The last one I unwrapped really made it feel like my birthday! what if? has been on my wishlist since it was released, and I haven’t given in and picked it up yet. Now I own it! It was written by Randall Munroe, the creator of xkcd.  There is also the what if? blog that I’ve been following for a while that I find so entertaining to read. The Martian may be my first read, but I think I’ll be pushing through it to get to read this one second.
Packed in the box with all these awesome books were a handful of extras that made the whole box feel extra special. Some book marks, made by Beth herself, and a neat faux feather pen kept with the bookish theme. The extra special treat was a couple of eye shadows from Beth’s shop. I’m looking forward to trying them out.

I have so much reading to do! It’s a wonderful problem to have. I’m so excited to dig in and am really thankful to my swap partner, Beth, for the great package.  I’m really looking forward to future swaps, and strongly recommend joining in on future fun with Chaotic Goddess Swaps.  You can bet reviews will pop up around these parts once I finish these new reads!
