Budgeting Bloggers April & May 2016

Even though I track my spending by the quarter, I thought I’d do a little check-in with one month left. My goal was not to spend anything in April, but with a $40 rewards card and a 20% off my entire purchase coupon, I headed off to Loft Outlet and did a little shopping anyway. For less than $50 I ended up with 5 new additions to my wardrobe, all of which have gotten more wear in the last month than anything else in my closet.

After that trip I didn’t head to a store again until a couple weeks ago when I finally went on a mission to find new black pants. I’ve been squeezing myself into a pair that was way too small, and I’d finally had enough. I realize that I need to embrace whatever size I am in the moment, and dress that body. By constantly keeping around clothes because I’m convinced I’ll lose weight soon and fit into them again, I’m just setting myself up to fail.

With that said, and a new outlook moving forward, here is the breakdown so far this quarter:

Date Item Store Cost
4/19/2016 grey pants loft outlet $11.99
4/19/2016 lace blouse loft outlet $21.59
4/19/2016 cream sweater loft outlet $10.39
4/19/2016 stripe top loft outlet $15.90
4/19/2016 stripe dress loft outlet $28.79
4/19/2016 rewards card loft outlet -$40.00
5/20/2016 red stripe top j crew $29.62
5/20/2016 black jeans gap $55.96
Q2 Total: $134.24
My goal is to stay under $250 for the quarter. I need to do another sweep of my closet and get rid of whatever doesn’t fit me right now. While I already talked about my major clean-out here, I’m realizing that my wardrobe will never be a finished product, and that as I change, things need to be added and removed to meet my needs.
Have you held on to something that didn’t fit because you thought one day you’d fit into again?
