Budgeting Bloggers Q1 2016

IMG_4341

We are a whole quarter of the way through the year, and one thing I haven’t really stopped to think about until recently is my spending. As 2016 started, I knew I wanted to make some updates to my wardrobe, and I started by cleaning out my closet (you can read a little more about that here). With my closet pared down, I had some space to add.

I was lucky enough to get several great gifts for Christmas, allowing me to make some purchases at the start of the year that I wouldn’t normally be able to justify. But since then, my spending habits haven’t exactly been frugal. I can’t believe that I spent over $750 in the first quarter of this year.

Here is the breakdown:
Item Store Cost
Grey Blazer HM $27.00
Coach Bag Coach $0
Jeans Banana Republic $0
Legging Pants Ann Taylor $0
Pronto Sweater Banana Republic Factory  $0
Camera Bag Pompidoo $256.18
Green Dress Loft $25.33
Striped Top Loft $25.33
Black Sleeveless Loft $25.33
Necklace Charming Charlie $13.00
Kate Spade Hat Nordstrom Rack $15.44
Kate Spade Bag Nordstrom Rack $98.00
Boots Nordstrom Rack $33.00
Flats Nordstrom Rack $38.40
Black Tights Asos $14.00
Watch Asos $31.00
Black Flat Shoes Asos $30.00
Cross Heels Asos $72.00
Trench Coat Asos $51.00
Q1 Total: $755.02

Because of the changes in my life right now, frugality is somewhat crucial. Since I’m taking the near future to figure myself out anyway, I thought I’d start with my closet and focus on the things I have. For the month of April I’m on a spending ban. I’m going to shop my closet and work with what I have, attempting to no wear the same few outfits everyday.

Have you done a spending ban or something similar? If so, what was your biggest challenge (and if you blogged about it, share a link!)? If not, is it something you’d try?
