    Explore Portland

Portland is an entertaining city to explore. We find something new every time we head out, as it’s constantly changing and impossible to discover every nook and cranny. The constants, though, are good food and friendly people. I’ve put together a list of some of our favorite places to eat, drink, visit, and shop, broken up by neighborhood. It’s certainly not an exhaustive list, but if you’re looking for a place to start I certainly hope it’s helpful. I cover the heavy hitters in detail, but make sure to scroll to the bottom for a map marked with many more…

    Travel Journal Packing List

Most often when I travel, my bullet journal is on my list of must-takes. It’s where I keep my itinerary and notes on reservations and flights, just in case something happens to my phone and I can’t access these things electronically. When I started working through my packing list and making sure I knew what I was taking on our vacation to Hawaii, my bullet journal seemed an natural choice to take. But I gave a second thought to bringing my whole bullet journal with me when I remembered I’d purchased a sharp little journal from YesStyle with “bon voyage”…

    Lessons from the Pumpkin Patch

Going to a pumpkin patch for the first time? There’s a lot the internet doesn’t tell you! While I’ve always been excited to see posts of people’s pumpkin picking adventures, I’ve never actually made it to a pumpkin patch myself. It just never seemed an activity to do when the temperatures were in the high 90’s well through October, as they tend to be where I grew up. Instead I’d pick my pumpkins in air-conditioned supermarkets. But with The Pumpkin Patch only a short drive from my new home and temperatures definitely feeling like fall, how could I not go…

    Portland Bucket List

Portland is an awesome place to live, and I recently sat down with my bullet journal and wrote out a list of 30 things to do in Portland. My goal is to do these things within the first year of living here. I totally expect to find new things to add to the list over time, but this is not a bad place to start. In fact, I’ve actually checked some things off my list already, and will try to update this as I finish more. go to a timbers game ♥ go to a concert at the oregon zoo ♥ visit…

    Lan Su Chinese Garden

We made it to the Lan Su Chinese Garden in Portland while the Lunar New Year festival decorations and performances were up. It was a beautiful garden to walk around, and we were so lucky to have the weather hold during our time there. It wasn’t long after we left that the rain started. We walked around the city most of the day, but this stop was particularly peaceful. Our bellies were full of Dim Sum, but if I have the chance to come back, I’ll definitely try out the tea house here. I bet the garden looks amazing in…
