Nod to Fall

Nod to Fall

top: ann taylor factory // skirt: loft outlet // shoes: french connection The internet has exploded with fall, and it’s been the hottest it’s been all summer this past week. I desperately want to pull out jackets and sweaters to go with my tea and soup, but alas the temperatures will not allow it. I should be used to it by now, as southern California really isn’t all too different from Arizona in terms of seasons, but that doesn’t stop me from dreaming of changing leaves and brisk mornings. In hopes of adding at least the thought of fall into…

The Weekly Times: September Recap

The Weekly Times: September Recap

I’m a bit behind on posting my planner entries, so I thought I’d do a big recap of the last month. I’ve been busy at work, and the stress and effort that has gone in to it has made me a bit lazy at home. I haven’t really taken the time to sit down and work on hobbies or blogging or chores or much of anything really. I’ve mostly been coming home and vegging on the couch watching Korean dramas and eating too many carrots. In reverse order, here are the last four weeks:

Books ‘n’ Bloggers

Books ‘n’ Bloggers

When I signed up for the Books ‘n’ Bloggers Swap through Chaotic Goddess Swaps, I was excited, but also rather unsure of what was going to happen. I had so much fun picking books to send off to Beth, who blogs over at Printcess! What I didn’t realize was how awesome the package I’d get would be. Unwrapping all the packages yesterday made it feel like my birthday (oh wait, it was my birthday!!)! I do wish I would have put a few more things in the package I sent once I unwrapped all the goodies. The goal of the…

Style: Lost and Found

Style: Lost and Found

A Little Background Ever since graduating college and moving into the “real world” I’ve been in style limbo. College was all about trying out whatever trend I felt like, and building a style all my own. Once I started my first job as an engineer, though, I got it into my head that I couldn’t dress the way I used to. That was in part due to the requirement to wear long pants to work each day, a struggle when most of my closet was filled with dresses at the time, and the desire to not stand out any more…

The Weekly Times No. 9

Summer has always been my least favorite time of year. It is nearly impossible to be motivated when you know the moment you step outside will be terrible. I’ll happily admit that this California summer has been loads better than the Arizona summers I’ve survived in the past, but the last two weeks have been hot. We’ve tried to do some fun indoor things, like taking Casper to beginner dog training, watching movies, and heading out to a dueling piano bar for a fun Friday night. I also had my first ever facial this week, which was a pretty rad…

Joining the Swap

Joining the Swap

Since I was little, I’ve been an avid reader. I have a wall full of books in my living room (organized by color currently) and have a reading wishlist a mile long. Lately I haven’t been picking up books as often as I used to, and I’ve been trying to figure out how to incorporate reading back into my regular routine. When the opportunity came up to join in on the Chaotic Goddess Swaps: Books n Bloggers swap, where partners are paired up and send each other a small package with three books, it seemed like a great opportunity to…

The Weekly Times No. 7

This week went by particularly quickly because I was out for training for work from Tuesday until Thursday. Being a working girl, taking a three day class with homework and quizzes and a final exam is sorta a fun change of pace, but I would definitely not want to be going back to school like the rest of the country is geared up to do right now. I’m happy heading to work and having that whole school chapter behind me. Though, I still love school supplies! As far as use goes, I’m glad they are all going towards journaling and…

The Weekly Times No. 6

I do have a reason for radio silence around here. I haven’t been on the computer much the last week or so because I’ve been getting ready for and welcoming the new addition to the household. We adopted a puppy last weekend! We got to bring him home on Wednesday, and he is so sweet. His name is Casper, and he is an albino Rat Terrier mix.  He’s stuck in a cone for a few more days, but I’m sure pics will pop up of him again around these parts.

The Weekly Times No. 4: #MeetYourKimchi Edition!

The Weekly Times No. 4: #MeetYourKimchi Edition!

I’ve been looking forward to this past weekend for quite some time!  When we bought the tickets for the Meet Your Kimchi Tour back at the start of May, the end of July seemed like ages away. And now it’s all over already. But we had such a great time. To take a step back, Eat Your Kimchi is a YouTube channel put together by Simon and Martina, a Canadian couple that moved to South Korea 7 years ago to teach English. Their videos share insights into Korean pop-culture, food, and customs in a positive and welcoming way. After a…

The Weekly Times No. 3

A busy week with lots of things to talk about. Early in the week my new camera lens and tripod arrived, and instead of taking pictures of the things I was planning on shooting, I played around with settings and got to know my new toys. I’m excited by how great these new items are, and am looking forward to posting more details in a future post. Over the weekend we took a trip to Phoenix, where the weather, while not cool, was also not scorching due to the monsoon rains. I already mentioned that I went skating, which was…

The Weekly Times No. 2

This week seemed a bit slower, and easier going, and I was quite thankful for it. New workouts were tried, which led to sore muscles and lazy evenings. One of the things I really enjoyed getting back into this week was practicing calligraphy again. I started dabbling in it a bit not too long ago, but never really got into the swing of practicing. This week, anintran, one of my favorites on Instagram, started the #handletteredABCs tag, and every day another letter is the letter of the day. I started on the first day, and though we are only a…

Goodbye Debt

Goodbye Debt

Just last month I paid off the last of my student loans, officially making me debt free! I thought I’d share a little about my road to getting here, and the tips and struggles I learned along the way. Background I graduated college with a couple of loans and no job to go to. Lucky for me, my parents let me move back in with them for a few months until I found my first real job and moved out on my own. To make the move, though, I had to borrow more money (that whole spend money to make…

The Weekly Times No. 1

Over the years I have tried many ways of keeping myself organized. I used a paper planner all through college. After, however, with a nice, new smartphone in hand, I tried many times to keep a digital calendar with appointments and tasks. I have found every attempt to go digital to flounder. I attribute this to three major things: it is too easy to set specific times and miss them there is too much space to enter data it is difficult to see a whole week at a glance I think I was just too used to the moleskine I…
